In April 2023, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari took charge as the Chairman – National Part, SCO Business Council Secretariat, Republic of India – A Strategic Body of the Top Global Diplomatic, Political, Bureaucratic, Economic and Business Leaders from the SCO Member Nations, with the close involvement of the Ministry of External Affairs & Foreign Offices of the Respective Governments of the SCO Member Nations, which include: 10 SCO Member Countries (India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China & Pakistan) & 17 Partner Countries (Afghanistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Maldives, Bahrain, Myanmar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar & Laos).
This vibrant platform provides expert advice to the SCO leaders/Hon’ble Heads of States (Hon’ble Presidents of the respective SCO Nations)/ Hon’ble Heads of Governments (Hon’ble Prime Ministers of the respective SCO Nations), on economic integration and joint projects, acting as a key platform for Eurasian business cooperation. The SCO territory which accounts for more than 40% of the world’s population, and almost a quarter of the world’s GDP. The SCO region is home to 25% of the world’s oil and 50% of its total natural gas reserves.
From India as a SCO Member Nation, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari is responsible for taking forward the sagacious vision, in terms of economic & business related agenda, of the Hon’ble Heads of States (Hon’ble Presidents of the respective SCO Nations), Hon’ble Heads of Governments (Hon’ble Prime Ministers of the respective SCO Nations) and pushing the approved business engagements and dialogues between the business councils and in positioning India as a leader in the SCO fraternity, through this vibrant multilateral and multifaceted business platform.
Mr. Darbari has been providing effective, steady, and institution-building leadership to this multilateral business platform since the SCO Business Council Board Meeting held in May 2023 during India’s Presidency of the SCO, followed by the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States in Kyrgyzstan, in Oct 2023 when Mr. Darbari had the privilege of addressing the Hon’ble Heads of Governments (Hon’ble Prime Ministers of the respective SCO Nations) on the innovative approach and strategy to promote economic integration, trade, commerce and business cooperation not only between the member nations but also included the partners states, by evolving close business synergies between the corporates and economic institutions and organisations from both member and partner SCO nations, also facilitated the cross border trade, strategic industrial cooperation, and long term partnerships.
