Powering India’s Agricultural Future: Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari’s Visionary Dialogue on Green & Blue Ammonia

With a focus on transforming India’s agricultural and energy landscapes, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman SCO Business Council Secretariat & Resident Director ( Agribusiness) , Paradeep Phosphates (PPL) , (Adventz Group), recently had an occasion of meeting Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

These interaction focused on the integration of advanced clean technologies in fertilizer production, particularly the industrial application of Green Ammonia and Blue Ammonia—key enablers in India’s shift toward sustainable agriculture and energy independence.

 What Was Discussed?

1. New-Age Ammonia Technologies:

Mr. Darbari had an occasion to to present the Adventz Group’s vision for adopting Green Ammonia, using renewable energy sources, and Blue Ammonia, which involves carbon capture and storage in conventional ammonia production processes. These initiatives are crucial for achieving decarbonization in fertilizer manufacturing.

2. Strengthening the Fertilizer Ecosystem:

The conversation centered on enhancing India’s fertilizer value chain, reducing import dependency, and building self-sufficiency under the Atmanirbhar Krishi mission. Mr. Darbari highlighted how Adventz Group’s production capabilities could assist the Government’s agricultural goals through innovation and scale.

A key focus was the potential to empower farmers with fertilizers derived from cleaner technologies, contributing to soil health, yield improvement, and climate resilience.

India is a global agricultural powerhouse, but the sustainability of its inputs—particularly urea and nitrogen-based fertilizers—needs urgent reimagining. With the global shift towards low-emission production processes, Green Ammonia (hydrogen + renewable energy) and Blue Ammonia (natural gas + carbon capture) offer clean alternatives to conventional methods.
