During the IATC India Africa Award ceremony held in New Delhi on June 15, 2023, Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Business Council Secretariat, Managing Director & CEO of Texmaco Defence Systems, and Chief Executive of Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, was honored with a special award presented by Ms. Doubangar Ronel Baiong Malloum, Hon’ble Minister of State in charge of Finance, Budget and Public Accounts, Ministry of Finance, Budget and Public Accounts, Chad, in the gracious presence of His Excellency Gen (Retd.) Dr. Chiwenga, Hon’ble Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The event was graced by the presence of several High Commissioners/Ambassadors from African nations, as well as distinguished ministers from Malawi, Namibia, Gabon, Guinea, Chad, and Lesotho. The purpose of the award and the presence of these esteemed guests was to promote infrastructure building, business cooperation, and collaboration in the field of railways, rolling stock (freight wagons), engineering, design, and transportation with various African nations, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Mali, Cameroon, Rwanda, and Liberia.
During his speech, Mr. Darbari emphasized that Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd is a leading global end-to-end railway solutions company with a remarkable track record spanning over eight decades. The company has been at the forefront of the railway business in African nations, providing specialized varieties of freight cars under the Lines of Credit (LoC) and EXIM Bank funding. Mr. Darbari also highlighted that Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd has recently been recommended for a tender award for the engineering design of LV underground cables and the renovation of MV/LV cabins in Nyarugenge, as part of the Rwanda Transmission System and Last Mile Connectivity (TSRLMC) Project. This tender was issued by the Rwanda-Energy Access and Quality Improvement Project. Additionally, the company has secured a prestigious wagon export order worth USD 7.8 million for ArcelorMittal in Liberia. The order comprises 100 wagons, each with a carrying capacity of 98 tonnes.
Mr. Darbari further mentioned that the Steel Foundry of the Company is the largest in the country, with a production capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes of quality castings per year. It boasts a state-of-the-art facility set up by the world-renowned M/s. Kunkel Wagner, Germany. Moreover, Wabtec Texmaco Rail Private Limited, a joint venture formed with the globally acclaimed Wabtec Corporation, USA, on a 60:40 basis in the year 2015, has been instrumental in the company’s success.
