According to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade, Malawi imported railway and tramway locomotives, rolling stock, and equipment from India, amounting to US$36.49 thousand in 2021.
During a bilateral discussion on 15th of June 23 with H.E. Mr. Leonard Mengezi, High Commissioner from the Republic of Malawi to India, H.E. Simplex Chithyola Banda, Minister of Trade and Industry from the Republic of Malawi, with Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Business Council Secretariat, Managing Director & CEO of Texmaco Defence Systems, and Chief Executive of Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd., engaged in a productive dialogue regarding the import of railway, tramway locomotives, rolling stock, and equipment from India. The discussion explored potential collaboration between Malawi and Texmaco Railways to catch Malawi’s requirements.
