Warm Greetings to you on our Republic Day
On this momentous occasion, let's pledge to serve our Nation, celebrate its Glory & share our National Pride.#RepublicDay #republicday2021 @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @DefenceMinIndia @Ajitdovalkumar @rusintrade @DefProdnIndia @SIDMIndia pic.twitter.com/zhFLW8orBH— Tribhuvan Darbari (@darbari_s) January 26, 2021
January 26 is celebrated to commemorate the Indian Constitution replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari said, “Though the Constitution came into force in 1950 with a democratic government system, it was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. This completed the country’s transition into becoming a sovereign republic and now it is celebrated across India with a lot of fervour. The day is special for every Indian.” As Hon’ble President Ramnath Kovind said in his speech on the eve of 26th January 2021, “This day has come to mean a lot to all Indians living within the country and abroad. Seventy-one years ago, on this very day, we the people of India adopted, enacted and gave to ourselves a unique Constitution. For all of us, then, this is the day to also pause and ponder over the core values that the Constitution propounds. These values – Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity – outlined in the Preamble of our Constitution are sacred to all of us. Its abiding adherence is meant not only for those who are mandated to govern but for the people at large.”
Mr. TS Darbari, talking about the importance of Republic Day, said, “A republic allows greater freedom and prosperity. Economic pursuit benefits the entire nation and people are able to live well. When government serves the interests of the entire country, we say it is serving the common welfare. There is wider participation in the political process.” The word republic, comes from the Latin res publica, or public thing, and refers to a form of government where the citizens act for their own benefit rather than for the benefit of a ruler or king. A republican government is one in which the political authority comes from the people. In India, power is given to the government by its citizens as written in the Indian Constitution and through its elected representatives.
Mr. TS Darbari further said that the Founders of our Nation thought a republican government was the best kind of government they could choose for themselves. They believed that the advantages of republican government were:
Fairness: They believed that laws made by the representatives they elected would be fair. If their representatives did not make fair laws, they could elect others who would.
Common welfare: The laws would help everyone instead of one person or a few favored people.
Freedom and Prosperity: People would have greater freedom and be able to live well.
Mr. TS Darbari also added that the role of our armed forces in ensuring our freedom is irrefutable and therefore, with an aim to integrate emerging technologies, especially in defence production to develop state-of-the-art military products to enhance national security, Texmaco Defence (a subsidiary of Texmaco Rail & Engineering) has made a steady progress in this direction. According to Mr. TS Darbari, “Military forces from developing countries like India have become increasingly important as facilitators of their government’s foreign policy, taking part in peacekeeping operations, military exercises and humanitarian relief missions. Indian armed forces not only protect India and its citizens from direct threats, they also help maintain peace and stability in regions critical to India’s interests and underwrite Indian defense commitments around the world. Therefore, leveraging upon the emerging technologies, Texmaco Defence has committed itself to augment India’s Defence Production capabilities, under the “Make-in-India” Programme.”
